What happens when you clock out - but keep creating?

This is an exhibition featuring two local animators' artwork they have done in their own free time, from creating original artworks or derivative art inspired by pop culture.

Off Hours / Of Ours explores the space between professional work and personal passion - the drawings made after the deadline, the stories told outside the brief, the art that belongs entirely to the artist.

The Artists

Wildreamz

Wildreamz is currently working in the animation industry as a 2D artist, doing background production art, character concepts and character supervision across various projects.

Since young, Wildreamz has a passion to create derivative works around her favourite pop-culture franchises, also known as "fanart". Publishing such pieces consistently over a decade has amassed a steady online following on Instagram and YouTube.

To Wildreamz, the enjoyment of creating fanart is challenging oneself to put a transformative spin onto the subjects while retaining its core essence and storytelling. This also extends to playing with different styles and mediums to depict them in a fresh perspective, which is a way for fans to engage further with their favourite franchises.

Bit_ter

bit_ter studied animation and worked in the industry. but the more he drew for work, the less he drew for himself.

Unbreakable Hue started as a way to reclaim that. A comic about a world where colour is suppressed, where expressing yourself fully is dangerous. The title won the Clip Studio Paint Comic Award in 2024.

In school, they said be original. In industry, follow the brief. At conventions, draw fan art if you want to sell. He understood the logic, and he kept going anyway.

This exhibition is part of that journey.
